Strava

Connecting Strava to Cadence Fuel pulls your completed workouts directly into the app, so your nutrition targets always reflect your actual training — not a generic estimate.

What syncs

Once connected, Cadence Fuel pulls the following from your Strava account each time you open the app:

  • Completed activities — cycling, running, swimming, and triathlon workouts with duration, distance, and power data

  • Power data — normalised power and average power from activities recorded with a power meter are used for accurate load calculations

  • Heart rate — used as a fallback for load estimation when power data isn't available

Strava does not provide planned sessions or FTP data. If you use a structured training plan, connect Wahoo or Intervals.icu alongside Strava to get planned sessions on your dashboard.

How to connect

  1. Open Cadence Fuel and tap your profile icon in the top-right corner

  2. Select My Connections

  3. Under Health & Devices, tap Connect next to Strava

  4. You'll be taken to the Strava website in your browser

  5. Sign in to your Strava account and approve access for Cadence Fuel

  6. You'll be redirected back automatically — the connection is live

The Strava row will show a Disconnect button once the connection is active.

How it works

Cadence Fuel fetches your recent Strava activities in the background whenever you open the app or navigate to the dashboard. Completed activities contribute to your daily training load score, which is used to adjust your calorie, carbohydrate, and hydration targets for that day.

Activities recorded with a power meter use normalised power and your FTP to calculate an accurate load score. Activities without power data use heart rate zones (if recorded) or duration and perceived effort as a fallback.

Strava activities appear in the Workouts section of your dashboard alongside any activities from other connected sources.

Strava and Apple Health

If you use both Strava and Apple Health, workouts recorded by Strava may also appear in Apple Health via the Strava app. Cadence Fuel deduplicates these automatically — you won't see the same workout counted twice.

If you record workouts with a Garmin, Wahoo, or other device that syncs to both Strava and Apple Health, you only need one connection. Connecting both is fine — Cadence Fuel handles deduplication — but it's not required.

Training load and targets

Strava workouts are weighted by duration and intensity. Rides and runs with power data use normalised power relative to your FTP. Heart rate-based activities use time in zones. Easy sessions and rest days produce lower load scores, which means lower carbohydrate and calorie targets for that day.

FTP is not pulled from Strava directly. Set your FTP manually in your Cadence Fuel profile settings, or connect Wahoo or Intervals.icu to keep it updated automatically.

Troubleshooting

The Connect button opens a browser but nothing returns to the app Make sure Cadence Fuel is allowed to handle links. On iOS, check Settings → Cadence Fuel and ensure nothing is blocking URL handling. On Android, check that Cadence Fuel is set as the default handler for its URL scheme.

My activities aren't showing up Check My Connections — if the Strava row shows a Connect button rather than Disconnect, the authorisation has expired. This can happen after changing your Strava password or revoking app access. Tap Connect to re-authorise.

An activity is missing that I can see in Strava Cadence Fuel fetches activities for the currently selected date. Navigate to the date of the activity in question. If it still doesn't appear, check that the activity is set to public or followers-only in Strava — private activities marked as "Only You" are not accessible via the API.

My power data isn't being used Power data must be recorded on the original device and uploaded to Strava with the activity. If a ride shows 0W or no power in Strava, Cadence Fuel won't have it either. Check the activity detail in Strava to confirm power was recorded.

Disconnecting

To remove the Strava connection, go to My Connections and tap Disconnect next to Strava. This revokes Cadence Fuel's access token and stops all syncing. Your existing logged data in Cadence Fuel is not affected.

You can also revoke access from the Strava side: Strava → Settings → My Apps → Cadence Fuel → Revoke Access.

You can reconnect at any time by tapping Connect again.
