Manganese

Supports antioxidant defence and bone formation relevant for athletes with high oxidative stress.

2.3mg/day men · 1.8mg/day women

Why it matters

Manganese is a trace mineral that acts as a cofactor for several enzymes involved in antioxidant defence, bone formation, carbohydrate metabolism, and amino acid synthesis. It is a component of manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) one of the body's primary antioxidant defence enzymes, located in the mitochondria where most energy is produced.

For endurance athletes

Athletes generate significantly higher oxidative stress through training, making adequate manganese a useful part of overall recovery support. Manganese also contributes to bone mineralisation alongside calcium and vitamin K relevant for athletes who place repeated loading stress on their skeleton.
