Three things landed in this one. They are all about the same problem: the gap between deciding to log something and it actually being logged.
That gap is where tracking dies. Not in a dramatic way. You just have a hard week, the app asks for four taps too many, and by Thursday you have stopped.
In this update:
Open in M0VE, from any recipe page in Safari
Your favourites, per meal, on the search screen
One Log Food screen, everywhere
1. Open in M0VE, from any recipe page in Safari
You find a recipe on your phone. Not in an app, on a website, the way most people actually find recipes. Until now, getting it into M0VE meant copying the address, opening the app, finding the import screen and pasting.
Now you tap Share, scroll to Open in M0VE, and the app opens with the import already running.
M0VE reads the page, pulls out the ingredients with their nutrition, keeps the method, and hands you the result to check before anything is saved. You get the last word on the servings and the ingredient list, same as importing by link.
From there it is a normal recipe: log it, plan it into your week, send its ingredients to Groceries.
It works on any page with a recipe on it. If there is no recipe there, it tells you so rather than inventing one.
2. Your favourites, per meal, on the search screen
Tap the search bar in any meal and you no longer land on an empty box with a keyboard.
You land on two things. Your favourites for that meal, and the foods you actually eat at that time of day.
The favourites shelf is per meal, and it is yours to fill. Tap Add and pin the foods you want sitting at the top of breakfast. Your porridge, your usual coffee, the yoghurt. Dinner gets its own shelf with completely different things on it. Nothing is assumed and nothing is put there for you, because the whole value of a shortcut is that you chose it.
Underneath, Suggestions. M0VE looks at what you have logged at breakfast before and puts that first, so you are not scrolling past last night's curry at seven in the morning. Log the same three things most mornings and they will be the first three things you see.
Both are one tap to the logging screen with the portion already set to what you normally have.
3. One Log Food screen, everywhere
This one is less exciting and probably matters more.
There are a lot of ways to get to a food in M0VE. Search it, scan it, tap a suggestion, pick a favourite, grab a gel off the session fuel list, add a supplement, pull an ingredient out of a recipe you are building.
All of them now open the same screen: the full Log Food page, with the date, the meal, the portion in whatever unit suits, and the complete nutrition panel underneath.
So the food you tapped in Suggestions behaves exactly like the food you scanned, which behaves exactly like the food you searched. You learn the screen once. Whatever you tapped, wherever you tapped it, you know what happens next and you know where the numbers are.
The portion comes in already set to the serving you would normally use, and it is always editable. If you saved a food at 40 grams, it opens at 40 grams.
That's the update
Everything here is a few seconds. A few seconds off importing a recipe, a few seconds off logging breakfast, a few seconds of not having to work out which screen you are on.
Across a season, seconds are the entire thing. Fuelling only works if you log, and you only log if it is quick enough not to think about.
Live on iOS now. The Android build follows.
If something here is rough, tell us. A good chunk of this update exists because athletes said so.
